Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

I love this smoothie all year round. Vitamin C never tasted so good! I used this smoothie religiously a few times after having surgery because it’s full of protein and vitamin C.  It’s also rich in glutamine which is necessary to help maintain a healthy GI tract.  Anytime you’ve had surgery you should make sure you’re getting enough Vitamin C through supplements AND food. This is essential to wound healing and very important in autoimmune disease when healing from surgery (or any trauma for that matter).

Don’t forget too that we absorb iron from foods more efficiently when consumed with Vitamin C.

Ingredients:
* 1 orange, peeled & seeds removed
* 1/4 cup Greek style vanilla coconut milk yogurt
* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
* 1/4 teaspoon glutamine
* Protein powder, vanilla or plain, use to desired consistency
* Ice cubes
* Optional: 2 teaspoons orange zest

Directions:
Using a high-powered blender, blend ice cubes, vanilla extract, orange juice, glutamine & protein powder, about 3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the blender if needed. Add the yogurt, orange, & orange zest (if applicable). Blend well. Adjust ingredients to taste as desired. Enjoy!
