The human body produces collagen naturally; however, it diminishes as a result of aging. It’s really not fair!
The outward signs of decreased collagen production are often seen as wrinkling and thinning of skin and brittle hair and nails. (who needs that??).
Poor joint health can also be a result since collagen supports our joints, tendons and connective tissues in the body. It’s actually the gelatin found in the make up of the collagen protein that strengthens nails and hair. Collagen is often recommended by practitioners for conditions like osteoarthritis and the autoimmune condition rheumatoid arthritis.
Anyone with an autoimmune condition of any kind, including Hashimoto’s or Graves’ disease should consider adding collagen to their daily diet to support the GI tract, increase joint mobility, reduce pain, improve the appearance of skin, nails, and hair.
Plus collagen is just so amazingly good for you there’s no reason not to use it regularly.
What You Can Do
A daily cup of bone broth is a great way to get your daily dose of collagen – and so is a nutrient-dense smoothie like my Paleo Coconut Collagen Anti-aging concoction.
